Replacement Thwarts

Here’s the rundown on how to order a new HYSIDE thwart. HYSIDEs are entirely handmade, so measurements of thwarts vary. To be sure your new thwart will fit, read this entirely prior to ordering. We do not stock every size and every color at all times. It is highly likely we will need to make your thwarts just for you.

To measure, take the length and width of the thwart you’re replacing. The length is measured from middle of seam to middle of seam. Refer to the image below for dimensions needed.

Next choose from the list below to find the size for you. We’ve done our best to streamline the options on this page, but we’ve made several different models over the years and several different sizes, so it is most likely we will need to special order your thwarts.  The drop down menu shows availability so you can see options, however we recommend calling us to see what is actually in stock.

At the checkout page, let us know what attachment type, valve type and color you would prefer. If you never remove your thwarts, we recommend fixed attachments. Kayaks have d-ring thwart attachments. Older style HYSIDE rafts were outfitted with the lace-in style thwart attachments and metal military valves (MMVs), where year 2000 and up models have the hinge and pin attachment and Leafield valves.

If we don’t have what you need, we will build it for you. Keep in mind there’s usually a 4-6 month lead time if we aren’t currently building what you need.
